Port Barton is a small town in Palawan it is approximately 150 km from Puerto Princesa and about 5+ hours boat ride to El Nido. the town offers a variety of sporting and leisure activities from snorkeling, sailing, hiking and of course diving. it is a very laidback town not to touristy and has many outlying islands there are about 14 islands surrounding the town. in the recent year it have started to become a backpackers hangout as the accommodation in port barton is incredibly cheap compare to other islands in palawan. but still remains to be quiet and relaxed . the town is so small walking is the best option to tour around and hiring a boat on going to nearby islands.Free Image Hosting at www.picturetrail.com Free Image Hosting at www.picturetrail.com Free Image Hosting at www.picturetrail.com islands around port barton are spectacular and you can always find an unspoiled spot. the town somewhat offers trekking too. 1. Islands in the Philippines can be owned by foreigners? Wha'????!!!! This is alarming.

But anyway, your blog is quite useful to travellers. Let me do some plugging sometime. :-)

  9. Great photos.

Thanks for visiting my NorthBayPhoto blog. As for Swastika on the signpost, it is a small town in Northern Ontario that was founded in 1907 (well before the Nazi's use of this symbol) and the residents were proud of their heritage and the name remains today. There are stories about the MTO (gov't agency responsible for highways and signs) trying to change the sign post during the war and residents sneaking back at night to put their town's name back up.

  31. Thanks for your great pics and information on Port Barton. I was there about two years ago in 2007 and loved it. I felt like I had stepped into a time machine and was transported back to the 1700s, before all of the industrialization and commercialism began to encroach on the earth's natural beauty. My cottage was just steps from the beach and all you could really hear was the sounds of the waves and wind. Unforgettable.

    Thanks again,

    Peter
