Bantayan island is one of cebu's not so best kept secret. it is located off the northwest of cebu mainland. the island is still not that developed if you compare it to the sprawling island of boracay and bohol so it is definitely not overcrowded and over priced so this place is definitely for people looking for a great beach like boracay but hates the crowd and noise of the island and just want a total relaxation. aside from being a great beach destination the island is also consider as a lenten destination for catholics devotee during the holy week people gather in the town center of the island to witness one of the most solemn holy week procession in the country so reservation to the island during this period is a must. the town of bantayan is also known for its mouth watering dried fish and freshly catch seafoods like squids,lobsters and crabs. and also the island is rich in history and other natural wonders some of the oldest churches in the visaya is situated in the island. now i think thats just enough reason for you to visit the island great beaches great food and i forgot to mention bantayanons are simple hearted and friendly...
Getting There:
To get to bantayan you can take a 30 mins plane ride from cebu city mactan airport via SEA Air(temporary suspended) or you can go by land by taking a bus at north cebu bus terminal traveling by land may take 2 to 3 hours to hagnaya and then take a ferry boat from hagnaya to sta fe where most of the beautiful beach of bantayan is located.

Thanks for the info about Bantayan, I have plan to visit it by next year..At least I have an idea on some prices of room that we will be stay there..Is the resort that you mention is near to the island..?
I love Bantayan Island! I even said sa blog ko na very friendly ang mga tao dun khit you know that they have less in terms of material things pero they are still blessed because they live in a paradise. Ang gaganda ng pictures mo, I am looking forward to visit that island again.
who would not love this island!? i was there just last May this year and it is really really beautiful.
truth is, i plan to get married in that island! LOL. i really fell in love with its simplicity. though they say that it's crowded during the holy week.
i particularly enjoyed snorkeling at virgin island. it was really worth going there as the island is surrounded with dense corals.
i was able to rent a motorbike to go to the town of bantayan and see its church.
im really impressed with your photos. when i was there, i didnt had the chance to see it that low (low tide). it's really beautiful.
since i was in love with this island, i dedicated a number of post just for this island. that was during the month of june.

Wow! Interesting piece of information about Bantaya. I am very happy to hear that the island is not overcrowded like other islands. I am planning to visit this place. As I love to eat crabs and lobsters , I will surely go there.

In our fifth anniversary we had been to Bantayan Island and stayed at Marlin Beach Resort, Philippines. The food was okay. We had our best food at Balikbayan Restaurant. The beaches are very nice and the water is like an opaque gem. We found it looks nicer when the wind is not too strong.

wow! i'm planning to go there this holy week alone since i am assigned in a project here in cebu. however, it would be nice if someone can accompany me there. lol!

We're going to Bantayan this June and still deciding on where to stay: Budyong or Hard Kock. Anybody out there have first hand info on the two resorts? I also found www.wowbantayan.com to be a very helpful site for travel to bantayan.
